Armed robber throws money at passers-by after robbing bank

An armed robber stirred mixed reactions throughout the internet when he started throwing money at passers-by moments after a bank was robbed.

The incident occurred two days before Christmas, according to reports. The man allegedly hurled the stolen cash into the air after robbing the bank and wished for a merry Christmas to passers-by.

Colorado police confirmed in a statement that an "older white man" had robbed the Colorado Springs Academy Bank after threatening employees with an undisclosed weapon and fleeing around midday Monday with an unknown amount of money.

"He began to throw money out of the bag and then said,' Happy Christmas!" The witness Dion Pascale told KKTV 11 News to the local station.

After the case, a man, identified by police as 65-year-old David Wayne Oliver, was arrested in a nearby Starbucks and confirmed the department of Colorado police without incident.

Police also told local media that at the time of his arrest, there was no proof that Oliver was armed.

Passers-by reportedly tried to return some of the stolen money to the bank, witnesses told local media, but an officer told the Denver Post that there were still thousands of dollars missing
